Max’s Meals, our pet food pantry program created in memory of Max, a foster dog whose legacy continues to guide our work. Max taught us that every animal deserves to feel valued — and that no family should ever have to surrender a beloved pet because they’re facing a temporary crisis. 
The Problem We’re Addressing:
Across Luzerne County, families are struggling with rising costs, food insecurity, and limited access to affordable pet resources. When budgets tighten, pet food becomes an impossible expense. Families are forced into heartbreaking decisions, and already-overburdened shelters absorb the consequences. A single bag of pet food can be the difference between keeping a family together or losing a companion who provides emotional comfort, stability, and love.

Food Support
Max’s Meals provides short-term, dignity-based pet food support through a network of community partners. Instead of a traditional pantry model, we bring resources directly into neighborhoods through: • Local food pantries • Churches and faith-based organizations • Community centers • Veterinary offices and shelters • Fire stations and small businesses Pre-registration allows us to better understand your pets’ needs and prepare appropriate food and supplies for distribution day.
advocacy
We advocate for the rights of “pit bull” type dogs and work to change public perception through awareness campaigns and community outreach.• Support mental and emotional well-being for families • Strengthen existing community programs through partnership • Create a county-wide network of accessible, stigma-free pet support • Promote responsible, affordable, long-term pet care 
education
We provide resources and workshops to educate the community on responsible pet ownership, the benefits of spaying and neutering, and the importance of adopting rather than shopping for pets.• Information on affordable veterinary care • Access to low-cost spay and neuter programs • Guidance on vaccinations, microchipping, and preventive care • Resources for responsible pet ownership our collaborators
